After his doctorate in biomechanics, Roman worked for 13 years with pioneers in the field of endoprosthetic and osteosynthesis implant development - initially as a designer and developer, later as a technical director and managing director.
So, he was able to learn the business from the bottom up and in Europe, the USA , and Australia. He got insights into clinical processes and also to the interaction between suppliers, manufacturers, dealers, authorities, and of course the customers.
In addition, Roman got to know the "American way of business life" in one of the world's most successful public MedTech companies and can now evaluate first-hand strategies, methods and tools from both business worlds - group as well as small/mid sized - and combine them during their implementation.
Strengths
Communication at eye level is the basis for success. And he's not too good to get his hands dirty - on the lathe or in the raw materials warehouse. Roman still keeps up-to-date in terms of scientific principles as well as technological trends, regulatory changes and political framework conditions.
Passions
Roman seems mentally balanced because he's been exhausting myself with thrashing tennis, squash, and badminton balls for 40 years. But his fitness could be better (his own assessment) because he may cover too many of his trips in motor vehicles, preferably in American trucks and vintage cars from the 60s and 70s.
